In short: Ecopoiesis cannot browse your private CloudKit records. When you tap Analyze My Land, the disclosed site-profile fields pass through our Vercel endpoint to Anthropic. Journal entries, photographs, map boundaries, zones, and exact coordinates are not included in that request.
1. Scope and operator
This policy explains how Ecopoiesis Consulting LLC, a New Hampshire limited liability company (“Ecopoiesis,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information through the PermaSage iOS app and the PermaSage website at permasage.com (together, the “Services”).
2. App records and private iCloud sync
PermaSage may let you create and save:
- site names, ZIP codes, acreage, soil information, topography, and goals;
- project boundaries, coordinates, permaculture zones, and notes;
- journal entries and photographs selected from your photo library;
- AI-generated site analyses; and
- app settings and seasonal preferences.
These records are stored locally using SwiftData and synced through CloudKit to the private iCloud database associated with the Apple Account signed in on your device. This can make records available on supported devices using the same Apple Account. Ecopoiesis does not receive your Apple ID or iCloud credentials and does not have a dashboard for browsing your private CloudKit database. Apple provides and controls iCloud under its own terms and privacy policy.
If iCloud is unavailable or disabled, records may remain only on the device until iCloud becomes available. Sync behavior also depends on your Apple Account, available iCloud storage, network connection, and Apple’s services.
3. Journal photographs
When you attach a journal photograph, PermaSage stores the selected image data with the journal entry on your device and, when available, in your private CloudKit database. Depending on the source and form of the selected image, it may contain image metadata. Do not attach photographs or metadata that you do not want kept with your private app records.
Journal photographs are not sent to Ecopoiesis, Vercel, or Anthropic as part of the V1 land-analysis request.
4. User-requested AI analysis
AI analysis is optional. Only when you actively tap Analyze My Land does the current app submit the site name, ZIP code, acreage, soil type, topography, and goals associated with that request. Journal entries, photographs, map boundaries, zones, and exact coordinates are not included.
The app sends those fields to an Ecopoiesis-controlled endpoint hosted by Vercel. The endpoint forwards them to Anthropic’s Claude API, receives generated text, and returns it to the app. Ecopoiesis does not intentionally save the request or response in a developer-controlled land-profile database. The returned analysis is stored with your other private app records through SwiftData and CloudKit.
Vercel processes ordinary network and function information needed to route, secure, and troubleshoot requests, such as timestamps, request paths, status codes, IP addresses, user agents, request identifiers, and error information. We do not intentionally write the site-profile body or returned analysis into Vercel application logs.
Anthropic currently states that standard commercial API inputs and outputs are automatically deleted from its backend within 30 days, subject to exceptions such as different contractual arrangements, usage-policy enforcement, or legal requirements. Anthropic also states that commercial API data is not used to train its models unless the customer has agreed otherwise. See Anthropic’s current retention information.
5. Maps and location
PermaSage uses Apple mapping services to display maps and satellite imagery. Map searches, the area viewed, and device location—if you choose to grant location permission—may be processed by Apple to provide those services. You may locate a project manually rather than sharing the device’s current location. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Lines drawn in PermaSage identify a user-selected project area. They are not verified legal property boundaries. Saved map information is kept with your private app records and is not included in the Anthropic analysis request described above.
6. Website information
Email list
If you join the PermaSage email list, we collect the email address you provide through Supabase and use it for launch notices and occasional product news. Signing up is optional and separate from using the iOS app. You may unsubscribe through an email’s unsubscribe control or by contacting us. We retain the address until you unsubscribe, request deletion, or we discontinue the list, subject to limited records needed to honor an opt-out or comply with law.
Website analytics
The website may use Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate activity such as page views, referral sources, approximate country, and browser or device type. Plausible does not use cookies to create persistent cross-site profiles. Ordinary request information may be processed to produce aggregate measurements. See Plausible’s Data Policy.
Interactive tools
Interactive website tools may process values in your browser or send a ZIP code or similar entry to a service needed to return climate or geographic information. A tool will not add those values to your private iOS app records unless it clearly says so.
7. Purchases
iOS purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment-card or bank-account details. The app may receive an entitlement or transaction status from Apple to provide purchased features.
If a web checkout is offered, Stripe processes the payment and may provide Ecopoiesis with transaction, customer, and subscription records needed to administer that purchase. Stripe—not Ecopoiesis—receives the full payment credentials entered into its checkout.
8. Service providers and disclosures
Depending on the features you use, service providers may include Apple for distribution, private CloudKit sync, maps, purchases, and device services; Anthropic for user-requested AI analysis; Vercel for website and endpoint hosting; Supabase for the website email list and any web account features offered; Stripe for web payments if offered; Google for support correspondence; and Plausible for aggregate website analytics when enabled.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect the Services or their users, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards.
9. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not use personal information for third-party advertising.
- We do not track activity across other companies’ apps and websites.
- We do not require a developer-controlled PermaSage account for the iOS app.
- We do not send journal entries, photographs, map boundaries, zones, or exact coordinates for V1 AI land analysis.
10. Retention and deletion
App records remain on your device and in your private iCloud database until you delete them. Deleting a record through PermaSage is intended to remove the local record and sync the deletion through CloudKit. Merely deleting the app removes its local data from that device but may not delete its iCloud copy; records may return if you reinstall the app while signed in to the same Apple Account.
AI submissions are not intentionally saved in a PermaSage land-profile database, but provider retention and technical logging may apply as described above. Email-list, web-account, payment, analytics, and support information are retained as needed for their stated purposes, security, opt-out handling, legal compliance, and provider settings.
To request deletion of an email-list record, support correspondence, web-account information, or other information controlled by Ecopoiesis, email help@permasage.com. Because private app records are held on your device and in your private iCloud database, Ecopoiesis cannot retrieve or delete those records for you.
11. Security and responsible use
We use reasonable measures designed to protect information, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Keep your device and Apple Account protected, and do not enter or photograph information that is unnecessary for your use of PermaSage.
12. Adults and international use
PermaSage is intended for adults and is not directed to children. The Services are initially designed for use in the United States. If accessed elsewhere, information sent to service providers may be processed in the United States or other countries where those providers operate.
13. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as PermaSage changes. The revised version will remain available at this URL with a new effective date, and we will provide additional notice when required.
